CLOSE to 30 shooters attended the Moss Vale Small Bore and Rifle Club’s monthly shoot on Saturday, January 26, to contest the program of 20 pair Double Rise (cash divide) followed by 50T Double Barrel (trophy event).
The weather was rather warm with some strong breezes throughout the day, however, as can be seen by the results, this didn’t affect the shooting too much.
The highlight of the day was to have four possibles shot in the Double Barrel event, with the shoot-off resulting in two shooters achieving 100 target breaks, the biggest break shot to date on the new grounds.
The club congratulated all shooters for providing the level of competition which produced these results.
They thanked everyone who assisted on the day, especially to Elaine (and Barry) in the caravan, and Chef Don in the kitchen.
In the 50T event, the overall winner was Lawrence Doyle from Taree shooting 105 out of 105 following a 55 target shoot-off with Noel (Nick) Nichols (86 years) from Crookwell.
Moss Vale club captain Barry Kable will be investigating whether Nick has set an ACTA record for his age group.
In AA Grade, Joe Camilleri finished first with 78/79 and was followed by Leon Cuzner with 61/62.
Noel Nicholson took out A Grade with 104/105 and Brendan Walsh was second with 49/50.
B Grade was won by Lee Webb with 48/50 and Mick O’Dowd finished second with 43/50.
In C Grade Patrick Haynes was the winner with 46/50 and Ryan Webb took out second place with 45/50.
The next shoot will be on February 9, which will be a practice shoot (DTL and Skeet) at 12pm.
On Saturday, February 23 the monthly shoot will be held starting at 10am (gates open at 9am for set-up, assistance requested).
The program will be 25Pr Southern Zone Double Rise Championship and 20 Pr Southern Zone Deauville Double Championship with catering provided.
