Seven runs in the first two innings laid the foundation of the victory, as Ryan Flavell collected a two-run single in a four run first inning, and Toby Ryan batted three runs in with his hit to left field in the second frame.

Wayne Jenkins pitched well, while Josh Mayfield and Thomas Norley collected three hits each.

After battling a tight game with GGCD Dodgers up to the bottom of the fifth inning, Gawler’s division seven side scored seven big runs to turn the game, Craig Powell and John Leeflang belting big two-run doubles.

Up to that stage, the Rangers trailed 6-7, but went on to win 15-10. Dean Richards pitched well over the first six innings, while Liam Holland came on to the mound in the final frame to finish the job.

Steve Cope had another four hit game, while Richards, Powell and Leeflang collected three hits each.

In the final home game of the season, Gawler Rangers lost 2-12 to Glenelg in division three baseball, although the game was close for the first five innings.

With Dylan Winning pitching well early, the Rangers looked like matching it with Glenelg but just could not buy a hit, and trailed 0-1 after two frames.

Glenelg scored three times in the third frame, but Gawler fought back with single tallies in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to close the gap to 2-4.

The first run came after Adam Soar walked and ran the bases well, while the second was produced after safe hits to Mark Amphlett and Andrew Adamson.

But Glenelg changed pitchers to stem the tide and started scoring more freely to pull away.

Gawler’s under 15 division one side travelled to Noarlunga and came away with one premiership point after finishing in a 6-6 tie with Southern Districts.

The Rangers under 15 division two side came home with a wet sail, scoring seven final inning runs but to no avail, with an 8-15 loss to Southern Districts. Geoff Barraclough batted 1000 with two hits and a walk.

In Little League, while the Majors lost 2-18 to Port Adelaide, the Minors fought well to defeat Henley & Grange 15-11, the highlights home runs from Carter Powell and Trent O’Brien, two doubles from Wyatt Ryan and three hits to Seb Heintze-Unger.

STRETCH: John Leeflang stretches high at first base for Gawler Rangers’ division seven to complete an out against GGCD.
